What does Il Castagno mean?
Il Castagno is Italian for chestnut. The cottage is situated in woodland mainly of chestnut - thus the name. The house is built into the mountainside in a truly peaceful place, totally unspoilt and commanding superb views across the valley into Celle di Puccini the birthplace of the composer Puccini and further to the snow capped mountains of the Apuan Alps.

Will we need to hire a car?
Yes, a car is essential to stay at the cottage and visit the local area.

Is there anywhere to eat out?
The cottage is accessed via a private road 300 metres from the small hillside road that leads from the village of Partigliano. Further up the hillside (2 min) is a very good restaurant called Guzzanello. Additional good restaurants are within 15 minutes drive.
